This is how I imagine JK Rowling when she posts.

It's really fun to see how her artwork develops too and what's wild is she's equally good at horror. Each series has a unique feel about it while always being classic RT.

For some reason I never made the connection that she was a huge influence on Bryan Lee O'Malley but it makes so much sense. What's your fave work of hers so far?

If it were up to the public the Tories would've lost power years ago but it's not. You're talking about a country where Corbyn in 2019 got more votes for Labour than Starmer in 2024 yet lost a ton of seats. The two main parties are done + Reform has been pushed by the media as the only alternative.

The debate around what is or isn’t “cancel culture” really just obscures a simple truth that it’s BAD to be massively racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic and it’s GOOD to speak out against injustice. Some things are good and some things are bad and it’s okay to say which you think are which.

It's always a bit jarring when I'm birdwatching and I spot a bird with tiny binoculars staring right at me crossing "big nerd" off his list.

Focusing on what truly benefits kids, with their input, would save us all. I wish that, collectively, we desired a free future for children more than we desired the power to harm or control another adult. Every day I try to imagine that better world for all the children who should get to live there.

More than anything else, the whole world runs on the disregarded suffering of children.

Blood Vessels Found in T. rex Bones Rewrite What We Know About Dinosaurs Researchers uncovered blood vessels in Scotty, the largest T. rex fossil. High-powered x-rays revealed mineralized tissues that deepen our understanding of dinosaur biology. Although much of modern pa...

Now that we know dinosaurs had blood, it's only a matter of time until paleontologists find evidence of vampire dinosaurs who feasted on that blood, and of Blade dinosaurs who fought the vampire dinosaurs.

When Labour in the future say you have to vote for them to stop Reform – remember there are countless reasons that argument is equal parts absurd and offensive.

But 26th August 2025 should stand out for their complete capitulation to the right.

Absolutely shameful.

It's becoming apparent to me that many people do not know that before the 90s there was absolutely cigarettes in high school en masse or that many high schools even sold cigarettes themselves!

We are a victim of our own public policy successes

The laziness and implied bias of the BBC here is extreme - "No 10 did not comment" presumably because the CPS and courts are independent, but there's no attempt to find anyone who would argue the opposite view, just the unchallenged whine of someone who called for asylum seekers to be burnt to death

What's wild to think about is gay marriage became legal and trans rights were improving under Tory governments. Labour right now are far more right wing than David Cameron and even Theresa May.

While I basically agree with this thread, there is something about British culture - namely its incestuous, privately educated media/banking/political class - that made it particularly susceptible to infiltration by a fringe view couched in the right language.

a decade ago the uk was in line with, if not ahead of, comparable western democracies. every major political party was at least nominally pro-trans; the conservative prime minister was actively pushing through gender self-id

i think what bothers me most about how "terf island" has been used is that it implies there's some unique essential characteristic of the uk that's allowed trans rights to be rolled back so thoroughly. this can and will happen anywhere we let it
