Despite what a dictionary says, when I ask for milk, I never expect it to come from a mammal other than a cow. Because that’s what milk is.

This should be obvious to you. You didn’t say “milk has always been milk.” You said “coconut milk”

For example, “milk” does not come in many different forms from my perspective, it comes in one form. Alternatives to milk—including, as you say, goat’s milk and sheep’s milk—comes in many different forms, but those forms are in opposition to the idea of “milk”

Right, while I agree that terms are flexible, I don’t think they’re AS flexible as you seem to think. And I’m concerned that if they are as flexible as that, then any and every term loses meaning.

I do appreciate the opportunity to discuss this, though: I learned quite a bit about my own moral positions from your questions, and that’s always valuable. I think we’ll have to leave it at that.

That’s disappointing. I thought maybe we had reached a point in this discussion where we could finally focus on the *only* thing I was talking about: terms. I’ve never expressed, nor do I feel, any negativity toward vegan alternatives to animal products.
