Giving into your opponent’s framing never gives you an advantage in politics. It’s been beyond frustrating watching Democratic politicians keep failing for the same centrist losing strategy with all the evidence like these polls to the contrary. Hopefully more Dems will start waking up to reality.

Our existence isn’t political. Our struggle to be treated like humans is political. Our existence isn’t any more political than the existence of any other minority group forced to engage politically to fight against their oppression.

There’s consequences when Democrat politicians give in to the right wing framing of trans issues rather than listen to how we frame our own lives and needs.

Between this and RFK Junior’s ”Wellness Farms” idea to put those with clinical depression and addiction to work as treatment it’s pretty clear how the regime intends to replace the migrant farm workers they’re deporting with any citizens they consider undesirable imprisoned in work camps.

Propaganda is like incoming artillery. You never heard the one that gets you.

Do they think financial anxiety somehow makes people more creative and ambitious? Seems like something an exploitive bootstrap cartoon villain would come up with.

You could always do it to fool your enemies into thinking you’re not the protagonist while sowing the seeds for decoys…er the next generation.

I imagine the purity testing is ok as long as it’s done by centrists who would rather run a corrupt right leaning candidate than support a more progressive and popular one that might actually be effective without throwing trans folk under a bus.

The US economy is basically being held up by three data centers in a trench coat at this point. That’s a ridiculous amount of investment that’s going to get torched as soon as this bubble pops. Billionaires would rather burn their money than invest in anything that lifts up the working class.

It’s apparently not fascism until it’s too late to do anything about it.

Trying to keep positive with this but the cynic in me worries that our community is only being included to be negotiated away later. I hope I’m wrong but Dems have a long history of throwing us under the bus when we need them the most. We need to keep the pressure up now more than other.

We Americans are pretty bad at fun and silly. Could probably write a dissertation on how our hyper individualism and encouraged suppression of empathy have led to humor that’s more focused on being sarcastic and “edgy” than fun and entertaining. We’ve become hard. Maybe we always were.

Squid Games was meant to be a cautionary tale. Instead it’s become the blueprint for Mr. Beast.

Newsom cares about Newsom. He’s shown himself to be incredibly performative over his career and to be willing to change positions as soon as it’s politically convenient for him to do so. Relying on people with seemingly no actual convictions or integrity is not a good strategy for anyone in danger.

I keep trying to remind myself that this is the case but staring down the barrel of this weeks escalation it’s very hard to choose hope even if I know we must more than ever in this moment.

An opposition party that concedes to its opponents framing is no longer opposition. This obsession of the democratic party with getting republican supporters and becoming the new conservative party has rendered it more irrelevant every election cycle. We need new leadership with better ideas asap.

The amount of liberals who are just outright capitulating to the rights framing and justifying violent oppression of leftists without seeming to realize that the right considers all Democrats leftists is staggering. This should be a wake up call. These people will not save us.

Absolutely. We need to primary any Democrat who is failing to meet this moment. Outright capitulation to the regime? Primary. Taking big donor money that clearly affects your positions? Primary. No desire to push back against our democracy being dismantled? Primary. We need a true opposition party.

People in the US really need to wrap their heads around the fact that this will only get worse and we need to really think about the consequences of what we post online. It is not complying in advance to pick your battles. People are actively being made examples of. Be prepared for what comes next.

It’s such a double standard. Main stream journalism seems pretty dead in the US. They’ve completely capitulated at this point or are directly owned by oligarchs.

You can fight and advocate from the safety of another country as well. I don’t blame anyone for wanting to get out while they still can. We can’t do much from a camp or a grave. I hope it doesn’t come to that but we need to be ready because it’s looking more likely by the day for our community.

It’s so blatant to. They were framing it to manufacture consent for violence against us before they even knew who the shooter was let alone their motivation and just keep shifting it back when it’s clear that’s not remotely the case

We’re an easy target and they need targets to direct bolster their propaganda that gives people something to blame all their problems while justifying their authoritarian power grab. They will not be happy until we are eliminated and then they will shift their focus on others they hate.

Very happy for you Emily. Mine was many years ago now and the memory still brings me joy. Hang on to these memories. They really do help in the rough times. Our joy is hard won and should be celebrated as such.

It’s not the empathy you’ve withheld from others on your journey you should treasure but the empathy you demand from the enemies you’ve made along your way.

It’s dizzying how the far right is already crafting a narrative and calling for violence against anyone they don’t like when we don’t even know who did it or why. They’re all just itching to step over anyones bodies (even each other) to craft their propaganda of political violence against us.

It might be possible. That said currently all the investor money is getting sucked up for one way to accomplish this. Why would investors give money to those who might be working on such infrastructure when they’ve been promised by tech moguls that it’s already here or incredibly close?

Spoiler. It doesn’t have any actual intelligence. The idea that it can replace us all is awfully convenient for those who stand to make a ton of money by convincing investors that it will.
