Was this the greatest postseason pitching performance in the modern era?

It’s absolutely in the conversation and I think time will only make this more impressive looking back

This is the longest World Series of all time by innings at 73 innings

Beating out 1903 (Boston Americans 5-3 Pittsburgh Pirates, 70.5) and 1919 (Cincinnati Reds 5-3 Chicago White Sox, 71.5).

Both of those series were best of 9 games.

I mean, what can you say. Baseball.

About a century and a half of meticulously recorded detail of a simple, benign and pastoral game... that will still forever surprise you.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto won Games 2, 6 and 7 of the World Series. He threw a complete game in Game 2, six innings and 96 pitches on Friday and came back Saturday to throw 2.2 scoreless innings on 34 pitches and induce the World Series-winning double play. A legendary performance.

Maybe this WS will just go on forever as a metaphor for our democratic purgatory.

The president can order the β€œDepartment of War” to conduct acts of war wherever he feels likeβ€”in this case, the Caribbeanβ€”under inherent Article II war powers, and maybe under the old Congressional authorization for the War on Terror, but it’s not a war so the War Powers Act doesn’t apply. Gotcha!

The anti-vaccine movement has the same talking points now as it did in the 1800’s. It’s always been a rejection of science, scientists, and progress, with a soupΓ§on of paranoia.

Below is a slide for a talk I’m preparing that illustrates the identical strategies. I have more examples, too.

After COVID-19 measures, many infections rebounded. The net result of measures was positive.

Let’s be clear, most EBT users are white. The reason he’s specifically lying about β€œweaves” and we’ve seen so many AI fakes of Black women ranting about food stamps is they need to make BW the face EBT because they know many Americans don’t care if Black people suffer, and some actually wish for it.

Can I also just say, again, that the Biden admin under no circumstances committed to β€œleft-wing” migration policy, in any way, shape, or form. I want Douthat to articulate what specific policies he thinks are included in that, because I think he seriously misunderstands the policies at issue.

Note: while not unprecedented, it’s actually pretty rare for a sitting Catholic bishop to participate in a demonstration. It’s just not generally what Catholic bishops do.

Thus: Getting the hierarchy involved in this protest outside an ICE facility is no small thing.

the party now cared more about climate change and various academic fixations than cheap energy and good-paying jobs.

This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.

It is not my nature, when I see a people borne down by the weight of their shackles - the oppression of tyranny - to make their life more bitter by heaping upon them greater burdens; but rather would I do all in my power to raise the yoke than to add anything that would tend to crush them.
