I was also curious about state comparisons, and though there are resources like the NCSL, I feel like the lack of comparative focus is because states are so similar. I would love to see some states try differing governing models.

I remember doing a lit review on comparative research on municipal government types and there was almost nothing. James Svara at ASU has done some work and I emailed him to ask about the subfield and he wished more people focused on it. Seems like a great field for prospective students.

Well tbf legislation created the Digital Services Tax and the government, composed mostly of people who voted for it, just unilaterally decided not to apply it, maybe they'll introduce a bill to repeal it in the fall. And major projects can skip review now. Maybe they can just change the route lol

Yes, the problem is easy to solve algorithmically, but it produces terrible districts. The easiest solution to redistricting, of course, is to have one district, and imho it's the worst system except for all the rest.
