This sounds very familiar
06.08.2025 17:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Isn't this the industry that told everyone for an entire decade or more to "just learn to code"?
06.08.2025 17:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We are rapidly approaching the Luddite uprising / Butlerian Jihad for AI because the grifters peddling it are transparently contemptuous of actual skilled labor. You think people who have invested their whole lives in a profession are just going to walk away?
06.08.2025 17:49 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Definitely the most aesthetically pleasing, imo, and they also encourage brevity!
03.08.2025 19:15 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Anyway, when all of this started, I kept saying that you have to always look at these new technologies through the contempt that the tech world has for labor, and their campaign to destroy anything they can get their hands on for a bit more money. Human deskilling, not flourishing, is their goal.
03.08.2025 16:09 β π 933 π 221 π¬ 9 π 14NiemΓΆller was asked by his concentration camp cellmate why he had ever supported Hitler and the Nazis. Reportedly, this is what he had to say for himself:

01.08.2025 04:46 β π 4 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Also one of the most raucous and fun mosh pits I've been in, including metal shows
27.07.2025 22:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0View from the second or third row of the pit: a ragtag group of a half-dozen musicians play raucous carnival punk on a stage underneath an expansive twilight sky

27.07.2025 22:49 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0YouTube Music, which has the problems others have mentioned but which I picked way back when it was Google Play bc it allowed you to upload your own music (still does afaik)
Also using Plexamp a lot recently, local media server on my desktop + purchased music/FLACs ripped from public library CDs
Wrote up a short post about my new site redesign/rebuild in Astro, and how I wanted it to reflect a sense of simplicity and thoughtfulness in opposition to the incessant noise we are bombarded with these days.
Also, backlinks, remote images, and cool CSS.

24.07.2025 19:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Trans issues have been especially divisive for Democrats in the wake of the 2024 election, when Republicans used the subject to cast Kamala Harris and other opponents as out-of-touch. Newsom, another possible 2028 contender who visited South Carolina last week, drew backlash from activists and some liberal colleagues this year when he said βitβs deeply unfairβ for trans athletes to participate in womenβs sports. In South Carolina, Beshear was eager to talk about how he had handled LGBTQ issues, however. βI vetoed it because it was the right thing to do,β he said of the bill in Kentucky. βI said my faith teaches me that all children are children of God, and I didnβt want people picking on those kids.β
If the (wildly popular) governor of Kentucky can say this with his whole chest then what excuse does the (wildly unpopular) governor of California have?

22.07.2025 16:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Idk if the Jubilee "Surrounded" thing is a Nathan Fielder-level satire or not, but it has to be one of the most bizarre and unwatchable formats in existence. Let's do an arbitrary struggle session for the laffs, I can't make it more than 1 minute of viewing

22.07.2025 02:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0All of which to say I think it's possible to hold the nuance of diverse early Christian expressions while not uncritically embracing alternatives as some kind of "pure" form. There was never a pure anything
22.07.2025 00:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Reading Yahweh as the evil demiurge is one particular strand of gnosticism (that is evidently antisemitic) but as far as I know it doesn't extend to all who were labeled as such. Nor does it mean the orthodox position was free from antisemitism
22.07.2025 00:29 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Agree that it's wrongheaded to idealize the gnostics, but to be fair gnosticism is an ambiguous label exclusively applied by antagonistic proto-orthodox writers as a broad pejorative against outsiders, and thus there is no real "gnostic" cosmology as such. This is just locally applied Neoplatonism
