Screen shot of article regarding measles vaccines:

“there are some adults who should consider getting revaccinated.
That includes older adults who were born after 1957 and were vaccinated before 1968.
That's because early versions of the measles vaccine were made from an inactivated (killed) virus, which didn't work particularly well, Offit says. That's why the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that
anyone vaccinated before 1968 get at least one dose of the live attenuated vaccine.”

Just got my measles vaccine!

I got my first before 1968, so it turns out I needed a new one.

The measles outbreak is ongoing, be careful out there!

Tuberculosis treatment

Tuberculosis treatment

Yes, #Tuberculosis (TB) is curable!

TB is treated with antibiotics taken daily for 4–6 months. ⚠️ Stopping treatment early can lead to drug-resistant TB.

Funding cuts & rising drug resistance put the most vulnerable at risk. Sustained support is crucial to #EndTB 👉 bit.ly/4ilkK1h #WorldTBDay

Oh for sure. As a former ICU nurse, I know next to Jack squat about OB. ICU and L&D/OB are both specialties.

We spent nearly 8 minutes this morning trying to set the record straight on a number of health matters.

I’d expect the Surgeon General or NIH Director to do this, but since they’re not, here it is in 4 clips.

If you’re able to attend a Stand Up for Science rally today, I applaud you. If you can’t, you can still stand up for science today by voicing your concerns and sharing your stories.

Thank you for catching me! I misread the post. You’re correct, this is for children between 6 months and one year.

This is good information. A lot of people in Texas are worried about the safety of their children under 6 months right now.

This is important. Many clinicians have never seen a measles rash or Koplik spots.

I oversee hospital Infection Prevention nurses and microbiologists and we are feeling the stress so badly. Our hospitals are already overburdened and we don’t want to go through another era of people dying while we watch helplessly.

I know local hospitals where I am are dealing with intense flu surges as we’re coming into the end of flu season. I don’t want to imagine the strain it will put on hospitals if no one is able to get an updated flu shot in America next season.

More not so fun measles facts

🦠wipes out up to 73% of your antibodies to bacterial and viral infections (immune amnesia)
🦠prior to the vaccine, measles killed 2.6 million people a year
🦠can survive 2 hours in a room after an infected person leaves
🦠99% of unimmunized that are exposed are infected

I’ve seen children die of

-influenza
-COVID
-pertussis

And wouldn’t wish those experiences on anyone.

Know what these things have in common?!

Effective vaccines that save lives.

Without NIH, science stalls and patients suffer.

No funding, no discoveries, no cures.

Cut NIH and cut the future of medicine.

NIH drives innovation. Cutting it drives us backward.

This is very sad and a reminder that if you have access to vaccines, you should get them, and you should support programs that make them more widely available.

This isn’t how fecal transplants work, but I like the creativity. There is very good research on the efficacy of fecal transplants in treating C. Diff, however.

I hadn’t heard about this, and I try to stay on top of these things. If your children are able to be vaccinated but aren’t yet, you could avoid a lot of suffering for them by making sure they’re up to date on the measles vaccine.
