eek! its a pretty good song but the production on the studio album is too thin for me and the second half is a lot weaker. it works way better live though, and this version most of all

tbh i dont really like jean genie either but its a good crowdpleasing anthem

the live archive stuff from recent years is a godsend. i agree with wakelyn that liveandwell is the best 90s one by a mile but theyre all worth listening too, the outside stuff fucks live and the weird rearrangements of older stuff like mwstw are cool too

put off listening to it for years bc of the reviews and my distaste for cracked actor but either visconti did a steven wilson-level remaster or im listening to the wrong album

mature is the word. now "mature" and "sly stone" sound like a terrible combo, and this *is* less exuberant, but its still fun, only matched with an ominous intensity and some sick psychedelia. some of the shorter songs are a bit dippy, some of the jams go on a bit-
