Oh shit! I’m so sorry! I grew up in an Edwardian house which had central heating installed when I was a kid in the 80s. Lived there for so long that every creak and weird noise just made sense as the building settled down every day. Never imagined the actual heating stuff might be responsible!

All central heating sounds weird. Do not stress.

Happy Fat Tuesday to all who celebrate. I didn’t do anything to prepare so I lack enough cheese in the flat to have a proper celebration.

Britain’s Story: The Next Chapter - BBC Royal Charter Review, Green Paper and public consultation

This is the Gov looking for your input on the BBC. It takes a while to complete (15/20 mins) but it’s pretty comprehensive and covers most aspects.

Please share. I’m surprised many people haven’t seen it yet.

Can’t imagine what faithfulness-internet would have been like around the time of the early Bond films. The Spy Who Loved Me had so little to do with its β€œsource” they published a separate movie tie-in novel.

The broken milk carton in the fight is just such a brilliant stupid thing, it made me cackle out loud first time I saw it.

I was 49 when years old when I discovered you should pan fry gnocchi instead of boiling them. Please reveal what happens.

What he’s describing here is the plot of Swastika Night, a sci-fi book written in 1937 by Katharine Burdekin which is an INCREDIBLY disturbing read. Set far in the future. The reich won. Women are caged & treated like cattle. Seek it out. It is frighteningly relevant en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastik...

Other than having the AFC Richmond scarf behind the bar above the door leading to the cellar, they don’t seem to be rinsing it. Which is nice. Hooray for that.

I used to work in Richmond ages ago so often used to go to The Princes Head (the pub out of Ted Lasso) on the green after work. Going to see a play at Richmond Theatre tonight, so popped in for a pre-show drink. It’s a lovely pub. And now they have lots of US tourists visiting amongst the regulars.

Screw cancer. 48 is an absurd age. And screw a healthcare system so broken he had to flog off all his precious sentimental memorabilia to pay for treatment.

A parody of Wes Streeting's Guardian article with the headline changed to "Ignore the smears: I was never a close friend of Dick Dastardly. And I never wanted to stop the pigeon - Wes Muttley"
"I knew him but not well, and worry now that he thrived in the Vulture Squadron. It was not just failed vetting: there was a failure of moral seriousness."
Streeting has been photoshopped with an aviator cap and goggles, along with a red aviator scarf.

A post on threads from user stephens_bens. It reads 'I'll always remember an interview with Steve Buscemi on Bulleye, Jesse Thorn asked him "As an actor with many decades of varied and outstanding roles across your career, does it ever bother you that one of the things you will most be remembered for is a 3-second gif in which you're wearing a backwards baseball cap and carrying a skateboard?"
And without missing a beat, Buscemi replied "I'm carrying *two* skateboards."
And you know what? He is.'
Below that is a screen cap of Buscemi's famous "fellow kids" moment.

A screenshot of a tweet that says: Your art will betray you. It will look better in your head than on paper. It will make you feel untalented some days. Love it anyway. Because one day, it will also surprise you, fulfill you, and remind you why you started.

Love the BFI in its physical venue form and the online player version. Proud subscriber to both. Looking for something unusual and fun to watch at home this evening. The most popular title at the moment? A four hour long documentary about a French restaurant. No. I’m clearly a pretend film pseud.

A 2 panel sketch disgram of a 1 meter tall pod. in the second panel, an oval section pops off and a demonic little face with short tentacles flies out, crudely drawn.

My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.

If Doctor Who are giving old cast members another go then rather than continually wheeling out people from the Tenant era they should give Paul McGann a proper go. He'd be really good given some decent scripts.
