I think it would be fun if writers who love language started intentionally writing more strangely as AI flattens written "content" into a mono-voice. it would cool I think if writers responded by focusing their individual efforts on cultivating a really unique voice that's hard to copy

I love Quentin Tarantino's movies, they're a vital part of my career and my life, and every time he does a podcast or gives in an interview it's a sharp reminder of the genuine intellectual danger of spending 30 years of your life with everyone around you treating you like a genius at all times

This is one of those things that I think is quietly important – when these people are talking shit about cities, Portland or Minneapolis or New York or Charlotte or wherever, you have to loudly say, β€œno, fuck you, you’re lying, that town and its people whip ass and you’re the asshole”

Ds don't seem to be getting what they need out of Nashville. But if the margin lands at R+3, that's a D+19 shift from 2024 -- we're not talking a wave, we're talking tsunami

I think you really need to know yourself to play this game well.

For instance, I never would have thought I'd pick Jonah Hill but he's in no less than three perfect, endlessly rewatchable favorites: (How to Train Your Dragon, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, and Moneyball) so here we are.

every trans person i see post about the OU suspension knows that the suspended target is trans & a grad student, & has an innate awareness that this is about purging trans employees. every cis person i see thinks the target is a rando professor & that this is about giving conservatives good grades

Woodworking by Emily St. James
The staff picks card reads:
An engaging, rich, profoundly human story about trans women living in South Dakota
against the backdrop of the 2016 election.
There are hard realities but also plenty of joyous scenes that will make you want to Pump your fist victoriously! An ode to trans solidarity delivered through damn good literary fiction. - SARAH

I signed a bunch of copies at Woodworking at Women and Children First bookstore in Chicago, where I am annoyingly stranded for 36 hours. It is in STAFF PICKS.

Also, it is my BIRTHDAY, so you should buy my book in MY HONOR.

The same child, riding on their mother’s shoulders, head bowed down so no skin is exposed. Their mom seems nonplussed.

Took a California child to Michigan, and it went well, as you can tell
