Especially if we lack teachers! Why would we not want clever, impassioned people trying teaching out? Fine, not everyone will stay, but I refuse to accept the assumption many seem to make that just because someone only teaches for two years, the teaching was somehow of poor quality or even wasted!

I’ve just finished my first year of Teach First. It made a career in teaching viable in a way I simply would never have done otherwise. I understand that retention is a problem, but removing one of the primary mechanisms by which young talent gives teaching a go cannot be the solution.
