hey I wonder if the political movement that takes "accuse the opposition of your own worst acts" and shot up a pizza place it falsely claimed to be the epicenter of a liberal child sex abuse ring and is currently at defcon 1 trying to block release of files about a sex abuse ring did something bad

I think they do it in Hockey World Cup tournaments. Even if you can't read the name in that language, if you still know who it is (their number helps with that) you would quickly associate the word/letters with the player. Maybe they'll do it during the Olympics in February.

This is great. I'm a sucker for languages and I love seeing names in their original language. They should do this in pro sports leagues, especially the NHL for me.
Like when David KrejΔΓ was on the Bruins, it would be badass to see KrejΔΓ. Fans can figure it out well enough. And now with PastrΕΓ‘k.

I haven't listened in a while. Might have to give it a whirl.
They're a Boston band. My favorite tune on that is 'Laredo' and it has a pretty good version of Blondie's 'Sunday Girl'.

Album cover for The Mudhens album called Crickets. Crickets is displayed on the glove compartment of an old 1950s era car in an italic style face type typical of the time.
Yeah, I was thinking that, too. Reminds me of a nice little indie album from the 90s I liked a lot. The band is The Mudhens and the album name is Crickets.

Is that the band name or the album name? I'm thinking album.

In short:
Facts are boring. Not worth researching, confirming, or repeating. Dead end earner.
Speculation, sensationalism, and suspect nonsense make profit go up. Hype up nonsense to sell ads = more revenue.
We're all the worst for it.
08.11.2025 04:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Yes. We are being deprived of fact based information at the expense of suggestive, improbable nonsense in its place. One could argue that the degradation of the original cable tv specialty channels paved the way to the corrosive misinformation environment we now see online.
08.11.2025 04:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
And, might I add, even if it wasn't for you it was informative and educational. Most channels now have about 10-15% in that catefory. The rest is all conspiracy theory dreck.
This explains a lot, in my opinion, why we can no longer agree on long-held scientific/historic facts. It's now all, Aliens?
08.11.2025 04:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Absolutely. There was a time when you could tune into any of these specialty channels and find interesting content. It may not have been for you, particularly at the time, but it was relevant to the channel.
The History Channel showing gold prospectors or whatever is not that. We have been robbed.
08.11.2025 04:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
This particular episode has some poor archeologist cunt wandering the expanse of some isolated British area near Yorkshire (maybe)? Looking for Vampires? I'm not sure. My guess is there's a perfectly reasonable scientific and historic explanation for this 'mystery'. We shall see!

The only redeeming quality of programs on Science Channel called, like, "What on Earth?" are:
1. Kind of like a travel show, since 'weird' shit happens around the Earth
2. The soothing and somewhat measured tone of the narrator, regardless of how fucked up the subject is and how it's misrepresented.

I came home tonight to learn that one of my two fluffy, beautiful cats had destroyed a lampshade. And if I could go back in time to learn which one was the culprit I'd be happy. Turns out, I've been needing an excuse to dump that lampshade (and entire lamp, frankly) for a couple of decades. HUGS!

I know this sounds like an old man yelling at an NBA cloud. If so, fine. You can think that. All I'm saying is - even though I don't give a shit about the NBA anymore, I can see from the outside that it's not doing well and is doubling down on shit it doesn't need. Maybe that's more valuable insight
08.11.2025 03:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Anyway, kudos to NBA fans out there. Enjoy your sport I guess. I'd just like to say that if you're under 40 years old you're being robbed. I was going to say under 50 but I'll give it some cushion.
I used to love the Celtics and the NBA when I was young. I'm afraid the entire sport has passed me by
08.11.2025 03:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
This all seems to have been designed for quick-hit video clips on TikTok. No one can sit through an entire NBA game with that disruptive of a court design and graphic. It's horrendous.
The only reasonable conclusion is that they know this and know that most ppl are only watching 10-15 second clips.
08.11.2025 03:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
So, that's what I mean by the players being pushed out. And, don't get me wrong, the NBA is THE league that needs individual players to take a step back the most. Too few players on the court, too many players wanting to be 'The Guy'. It won't work, not enough room.
But this is wild. Can barely see
08.11.2025 03:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I have no idea what's happening in the quoted post I chose. Are team members upset that a guy on the court missed a shot? Maybe. I don't know. Because I can barely focus on the actual fucking players and all I can see is an eye-searing neon green court with hideous trophy logos all over it. Nothing.
08.11.2025 03:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I'm not a Sports Purity scold. Far from it, really. I'm just having a hard time figuring out what's going on with these in-season NBA Cup games or whatever the fuck they are. I understand the need to make them stand out - but some of the shit I've seen here and on local Boston news is fucked up.
08.11.2025 03:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I don't follow the NBA, so I don't know how fans feel about these NBA Tournament courts. Can the players see them? Can only TV viewers see them? I don't understand what's going on here or what's real or not.
However, what I think is happening is the players are being pushed out as less important.
08.11.2025 03:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
