Agree. It’s frustrating that progressives (to be fair many others) latch on to the omnicause which often is “ppl have been brainwashed - they can’t possibly actually want what they want.” I think it’s fair for ppl to be turned off by that.

I think it’s a bigger problem that a large part of the left is uneasy or downright hostile to showing any pride for Dems and their accomplishments. It’s either cringe or something that is tone deaf because someone, somewhere is still suffering.

That’s fine if it just isn’t another shift away from a balanced approach. We need more research on how to teach kids with dyslexia where phonics isn’t working.

We aren’t “literally” teaching ppl to read wrong. Please have a little more nuance here and stop looking for easy answers. This article did a great job of synthesizing the theories around reading but is light on how widespread cueing is. My kiddo in Portland Public schools is being taught phonics.
