oooh another top tip, i've not done this myself yet (i would like to say some point tho) but i've seen lots of ppl make gorgeous summer shirts using old embroidered table cloths you can find in charity shops

sksdjsk REAL when i first started sewing i was like "i dont even need a fabric stash, im only going to buy fabric when i have a specific project planned out & that's it" smash cut to this enormous fabric stash i have in a cupboard with absolutely no projects in mind 🥴 BUT BUYING FABRIC IS SO FUNNNNN

trust me you will feel SO POWERFUL once you've made a shirt, there are a few fiddly bits but it all fits together like a neat puzzle & it's soooo satisfying. & if you get stuck at any point just hit me up & i will be delighted to help you ❤️ aaahhhh i'm so excited for your sewing journey!!

also i recommend here wardrobebyme.com as a starting point for garment patterns, wide selection, mix of easier & harder stuff. first time i ever made a buttondown shirt was with a pattern from here & it was surprisingly easy & made me fall in love with making shirts

I used to be so pre-occupied with being appealing/ beautiful (hey conservative Christian upbringing). I then deconstructed, came out as queer and got older, now I concentrate on being comfortable and being myself.
