To me it's a bit like the old, debunked punching pillows to "get out" your aggression. If you do it habitually, you're just reinforcing cruel behavior and encouraging thinking and reacting that way.

02.10.2025 14:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If it was competitive, like lots of moves, there would be more renovation and better housing.
The issue is all that comes at a big premium. Old rents are cheap ones -compare avg NYC prevailing vs market rents sometime.
Homeowners often DIY skimp on labor costs, and don't need profit on top.
I'm a renter (fan) but neither renters nor landlords want to invest in upgrades above the minimum.
Ownership aligns incentives - owned buildings will naturally be better maintained in the long run.

What if you don't care about continuity but to want balance looking at cool shit with everything not seeming too stupid or incomprehensible?

Apparently a nearby county added some data centers and their property tax rates dropped every year the last 10 because of what the centers pay.
Very curious to know what happened to their utilities and how it nets out.

16.09.2025 23:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0How can you put H bottom tier, it has NYC and some France?
If you count international availability, H has to be a top 3 choice because of NYC alone. If you just count "dishes invented in" then NYC still has done a lot of culinary invention. Sure if you just say "national" foods it does suck.
H also gets you part of France, Spain and Portugal... G loses out on France. D is great too though, plenty of big international cities too.
Outside of those I think's more questionable.
Hard to mean origin of dishes, since there's some native version of wherever the ingredients originate from, and then its just where animals/plants come from.
But if you just accept any exact recipe/restaurant then also H is a great choice, cuz you got NYC covering the world and Canadian Chinese.

Yeah, exactly why I figured they would take to it quite naturally. Would be interesting to see what they do with the faster communication, and they could potentially "whisper" intended communications, which would then give some insight into their intentions

12.09.2025 18:02 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There's a paradoxical trust reversal relative to traditional media, increased amplification is less trustworthy instead of more.
Traditional media was driven by money, which meant more each also meant structure, checks and controls.
Social media rewards pure, unfettered attention seeking.
how the media could cover kirk's death more responsibly:
1. don't just assume the shooter was from the left
Honestly seems lenient to me, says you can't do endorsements WITH their money, without their consent.
Apparently you can do endorsements without their consent on your own dime? Honestly though, you just ask for approval and they should grant it if you are aligned. If they refuse you can part ways.
