It was also energising to hear so many European participants focusing on how we strengthen our defence, our economies & gain technological leadership - rather than wallowing in our dependencies.

Thanks & kudos to @kpisarska.bsky.social, @pisarski.bsky.social & team for a successful #WSF2025

It was great to engage with the impressive array of experts, policymakers & leaders from the military, industry, politics & civil society
- & catch up with friends & allies in the mission to ensure our free societies not only survive, but thrive in an increasingly hostile and competitive world.

Not even threat of war stopped EU summit becoming a talking shop Leaders ran over time โ€”ย but most of the key issues remained unresolved.

"The EUโ€™s age-old problem of choosing to talk about a crisis instead of resolving it came back to haunt it on Wednesday. Even with Europe assailed by drones, warplanes and hybrid attacks, a summit descended into familiar stalemate."

It depends if evolve our doctrine, OpCon & force structures to actually make the most of the new tech - drones included - and the wider possibilities of AI. Military effectiveness amid tech change depends, inter alia, on properly adopting, integrating & employing tech.

Trying hard to moderate my Maia Sandu fangirling right now, but I gotta stress she's accomplished something no EEuropean reformist ever has: brought a fugitive oligarch back to face justice AND fended off massive Ru interference to win a referendum and two re-elections (parliamentary+presidential)!

The future of war? AI fighter jets trained in a matter of hours Europeโ€™s first uncrewed AI fighter jet, which beat human pilots in simulations, could be set for deployment within five years

The futureโ€™s here,
itโ€™s just asymmetrically advantaged.

Off to Munich for a Thought Leadership session this evening & an exciting Helsing event tomorrow.

Weโ€™ve no time to waste in boosting European deterrence & need to work out how to best use autonomy & affordable mass systems to do so -& how that impacts our doctrine, missions & roles. Letโ€™s go!

To stop the war, arm democratic Ukraine to the teeth, and savagely sanction fascist Russia: This has been Ukrainian government's message since Day One of the full-scale Russian invasion.

Well over three years on, the West still hasn't done it, and the war is escalating.

I'm a connoisseur when it comes to the unpleasantness, tempered by general incompetence, of the British far left. But I'm having trouble thinking of anything that ranks with this.

In turn, that requires a defence industry that designs software first and for mass production from the ground up, producing the scale needed for the modern battlefield ans the speed required to handle rapid iteration ๐Ÿงต

18.09.2025 14:24 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 10    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And that means getting the new tech out of the โ€˜innovation cornerโ€™ and into programmes of record which can deliver the gains of software defined defence. ๐Ÿงต

IF we double down on our innovation advantage and get new technologies into the hands of our militaries, *at scale*, so they can experiment, exercise, test & train to get the best out if the new tech. ๐Ÿงต

Can AI Fight?
Yes! And it will have to if Europeโ€™s democracies are to defend ourselves against the brutal tactics of our authoritarian enemies.

Leveraging AI to deliver autonomous mass capabilities will give us the edge over enemies that donโ€™t care about taking mass human casualties.
