Schumer getting involved in this race probably made Platner more likely to win it rather than less. If you understandably don't want Platner you should also want Schumer to butt out of the whole affair and try to find a new candidate to rally behind who has no affiliation with him.

While I can believe there is some sliver of the populace who broadly agree with the goals of defund but just think they needed to find the right magic words to make it happen I think such people number in the dozens at best. You can just reliably bet that every slogan scold you see is bad faith.

I mean if that were the case "you intentionally exposed your family to unnecessary risk and effectively killed them, we're not paying" seems like a slam-dunk argument on the insurer's end.

Institutions caved because they made a risk assessment that Trump would punish them for resisting and Dems and the public would forgive them for caving. I think leadership's rock bottom approvals make this perhaps the worst time in history for the party to attempt a coronation.

IMO the reason conservatives cry that something is unfair is purely as a disarming tactic. They don't care about fairness, but many of their opponents do, and historically they've been all too willing to self-sabotage in response to bad-faith conservative criticism.

It only counts as throwing someone under a bus if there's a name and face. Otherwise saying some unnamed staffer did it is the same as saying the post was conjured by a wizard.

Conservatism rebels against any concept of obligation or duty to others and that includes the basic responsibilities of being a husband and father. They want wives and kids as property they can do whatever they like with and nothing more.

They tolerate him as leader because he's drawing fire. Everyone's getting mad at him and ignoring them. That has to stop. His behavior has to be everyone's problem. They have to all fear for their own seats if they don't start denouncing him and calling a vote for new leadership.

Once again saying that if people want Schumer gone without waiting an agonizing two years to primary him, you have to point the finger at every last Senate Dem and say "I am holding you personally responsible for his behavior until you do everything in your power to kick him out of leadership."
