There was really some dumb part of me that thought once Zohran got into power and New York didn't suddenly adopt Sharia law, she might stop crashing out, but yeah.....

It's not just that their right wing shift, especially the anti immigrant and transphobic BS is awful, it's also actually worsened how they're polling.

Right wing voters have shifted to the far right party in part via Labour's legitimisation of RW stuff, while left wing voters fled to the Greens.

It's actually even worse than that. Their biggest priority was, and continues to be, beating their internal factional enemies. It's why for example, they kicked out a popular (somewhat) left wing candidate in an easily winnable seat (Chingford and Woodford Green), losing it to the Tories instead.

As someone who used to be very involved but on the soft left, oh yes, though the right of the party has long had much more power internally, even during the Corbyn years, and had endless media allies outside too.

I think it’s also a big chunk of this. Including that one of the extra issues that factionalism presents you with is also the opportunity cost of all the fucking time spent on doing/fighting it.

I think not having to deal with absurd Labour factionalism is probably going to help rather a lot, though also the level of scrutiny will be different when you’re leading a smaller party that isn’t considered one of the big two parties of government.

Because he’s the actual PM.
