Indeed, more people are getting an accident today in driverless cars because they didn’t die of COVID, as their immune system had training to fight it via vaccination.

Exactly, tasks are like the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who, they only get resolved if you don't look at them. Preferably, you should run away from them entirely.

1. Eww why cat, why?

2. On the topic of Christmas decorations, are you aware of @techconnectify.bsky.social's decorative light rants, and that companies are now selling really nice incandescent-looking coloured LED lights?

Okay, so is it just me who is a bit worried by seeing that someone in my building ordered a medical device seemingly normally used to remove blood from a limb before surgery/amputation?

@medcrisis.bsky.social is there something I’m missing here as to why else someone might want one of these?

Yeah I've tried that, and while it's impressive, as someone who prefers a native desktop app and being able to use circup, and whose programming skills require fast iteration (read: I'm bad at it and need to make a lot of edits), the USB drive side of things is just so nice.

RJ45 Ethernet Development Board (ESP32-S3) This ETH board is a development platform built around the ESP32-S3R8 chip, with both wireless and wired connectivity options. It supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5 (LE) and includes an RJ45 Ethern...

Then I've got one of these plugged in receiving those messages over ESP-NOW and sending them to HA over MQTT via Ethernet.

I wanted to use Matter-over-Thread on a C6, but couldn't work out how to get it to accept me doing deep sleep for extended periods and also have the wake time be so short.

espnow – ESP-NOW Module β€” Adafruit CircuitPython 1 documentation

Depends what sensors you want to run, though for less power hungry ones I've ended up using ESP-NOW on sensor nodes so they can stay in deep sleep almost all the time, only waking up to send a reading (takes roughly 2 seconds for temp+humidity), enabling very good battery life even on AA NiMHs.

Pololu - Step-Down (Buck) Voltage Regulators Switching buck converters reduce an input voltage to a lower, regulated voltage much more efficiently than linear regulators.

It depends on the board as to whether it can support that (pretty sure the C-series Espressif chips can't). Not sure what project you're working on that'll be powered from 12V, though Pololu have some nice buck boards if that'd be useful for you:

Have you tried an ESP32-S2/S3 as well? Asking as the native USB support is so damn nice with CircuitPython in terms of them mounting as USB drives and your code just being a code.py file you edit/save. Not having to wait for code to flash over is so nice.

Yeah, I've got a bunch of sensors in Home Assistant via CircuitPython code and Stemma QT boards, though I'm using MQTT, especially as HA's support for it is so good that you can make it autodiscover everything, even telling it which icon to use for it by default.

Aside from how even the best reading of this is probably that he thinks a live chat will help him by highlighting performance over substantive points, it's utterly bizarre to me to ask this of someone you don't really even know online. Even my neurodivergent ass knows this is not appropriate.

Posting on social media invites responses from a very wide range of people, many of them very critical, and the most scathing stuff will usually float to the top of your replies, and where any response you make, with a limited number of characters, is easy for others to take apart.
