This is a great piece. Lays bare the utter, cackhanded negligence of the PIF, and the sheer scale of the mountain EH was left to climb without ropes last summer #NUFC

"astonishing is the failure of a vocal minority far closer to home to recognise what has gone before...a lack of appreciation for the success delivered and understanding of the turbulence endured which culminated in last summer being navigated...without a sporting director or chief executive" #NUFC

Reminds me of a lady in my friend's street when we were kids. She would get him to ride up & down, spraying cans of hairspray into the air because she wanted the ozone layer to go so the weather would get warmer

Unironically yes, LOWER DECKS is about how the response to the disappointments of the post-Cold War era and the complexity of the modern world should not be despair or cynicism but instead a recommitment to the original ideals of liberalism, thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Rarely mentioned but about much of Ratcliffe’s business β€˜success’ is based on draining public money (very common among these β€˜self made tycoons’)

Always wondered whether the luge athletes take their kids sledging when it snows, or just sigh 'for fucks sake, I've been doing it at work all day"

Tone matters: Labour’s wins invisible & tax/spend falls way short of raising living standards/growth. Also socially 'right'. After ~20 flat yrs, people feel poorer, powerless over futures, & see corps still running down public sphere. Levers are only 'leftist' if they deliver egalitarian outcomes

What never seems to get out in the media is his background as an investment banker. His entire life's work has been devoted to capital

I think a lot of politicians & commentators see all this very differently from most of the country. They see it as part of an ongoing story about decision-making, personalities, probity, money etc. For everyone else it’s part of a long series of events: Saville, Huw Edwards, Rotherham & more (1/)

"Newcastle need to have a long, hard think about how they want to treat the most successful manager in the club’s modern history...If you cannot cut him some slack, show some patience and give him the time to turn things around, then you should be careful what you wish for" #NUFC

I was a barman in 1999 and our local labour MP used to come in & call Mandelson the Prince of Darkness. McFadden currently saying he knew him for decades and is 'shocked'. Absolutely shameless. Everyone in his circle needs to go.

One of the best and easiest things I learned to cook was prawn egg fried rice. Takes 10 mins, if that. Uses about 5 ingredients.Tastes amazing. You can start on easy mode and still make lush grub. πŸ˜‹
