Anarchism is definitely having a moment in Minnesota. The anarchy is real, productive, and amazing here these days.

Filed in District Court State of Minnesota

STATEMENT OF PROBABLE CAUSE

2/6/2026

At around 2:30 PM on February 5, 2026, troopers at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul, Ramsey County were alerted to a criminal damage to property incident that occurred on Capitol property.

An art installation made of large blocks of ice that read: PROSECUTE ICE was on permitted display on the Capitol grounds between 6:30 AM and 11:30 PM on February 5, 2026. The Common Defense Organization had paid $6250 to a local artist to create the ice sculpture. The group had paid an additional $600 to have the ice sculpture removed after its permitted placement time lapsed.

A man dressed in camouflage, later identified as EDWARD JACOB LANG (DOB: 08/29/1995), vandalized an ice sculpture. Lang kicked over and destroyed the letters SECUTE so the sculpture read: PRO ICE. Lang got into a RAM pickup and left the area.

Troopers stopped the RAM and identified Lang as the man who had damaged the sculpture. Lang identified himself with his Florida license. Lang said he was on the Capitol grounds exercising his "First Amendment Right to Artistic Expression." When asked if he had damaged an ice sculpture, Lang said the sculpture was made of ice and could not sustain its structure. Land said he recorded the incident and posted it to his social media account.

Troopers determined that Lang's criminal damage exceeded the felony threshold, and they arrested Lang. Lang was placed in a squad and asked a cohort to take a photo of him. A trooper advised Capitol security dispatch to save the video of the incident, and Lang replied that he had great video of the incident. Lang asked to be placed in protective custody at the jail.

The Ramsey County Sheriff agreed to accommodate Lang's request to be placed in protective custody status.

Lang declined a custodial statement, but he asked to convey a message to the prosecuting attorney: "I was creating art. I was exercising my First Amendment rightโ€ฆ

The charging document for Jake Lang is up. It's a short, funny read, but I want to call out one passage:

"A trooper advised Capitol security dispatch to save the video of the incident, and Lang replied that he had great video of the incident."

A gut punch with today's ICE Air flight at MSP - I thought we were going to make it the whole day without a flight for the first time since January 5th, but one popped up this evening.

66 detainees boarded today - the most we've seen in the last ten days.

3,137 are represented on this graph.

Even during a revolution, we still need to eat dinner.

Even during a revolution, we still need to sleep.

Even during a revolution, we still need to play with our cats.

Weโ€™re in this for the long haul, so make yourselves comfy.

Weโ€™ve denied the fascists rest, & we must use rest to our advantage.

Very developing situation here. FPS agents ran into the hotel. Tear gas deployed. Hotel patrons forced to put their hands up. One agentโ€™s nose bloodied.

Today, ICE executed Alex Pretti in broad daylight on Nicollet Ave. Alex was a licensed nurse doing what thousands of our neighbors have been doingโ€“caring for one another. Alex could have easily been you or me or any of hundreds of people out here every day keeping our community safe.

I've talked to people on the ground about the strike here tomorrow, and the single thing everyone brings up is just how shockingly wide the support for the strike is. Businesses that no one would have expected to support it are doing so.

Chauntyll Allenโ€™s arrest, along with Nekima Levy Armstrongโ€™s, is a dangerous escalation in the federal assault on MN. Itโ€™s an attack on our Constitution and an attack on Black women leading in the Twin Cities. Our community & local government will continue to fight against this in every way we can.

Folks, if you know any Minnesotan, you'll know that many of us will bring up Minnesota and Minnesota things at every possible opportunity. If we manage to ride out military occupation, we're going to be absolutely insufferable for the next 20 years. Think about what you're risking here.

Minneapolis man says ICE agents took 'trophy' photos, locked him in overcrowded cell Garrison Gibson, a Minneapolis man from Liberia, shared details of his experience with federal immigration enforcement this week at a press conference Saturday.

Inside the detention center, Gibson said officers put him in a bare, metal holding cell about the size of a small conference room with around 40 other detainees. Their legs were shackled. Gibson said one person in the cell appeared to have scabies.

Per capita, the ICE operation in the Twin Cities is the equivalent of 25 Operation Midway Blitzes happening simultaneously. As a Chicagoan, I canโ€™t imagine what that would feel like. The scale is unthinkable.

My math is below in case you want to adjust anything:

Twin Cities metro:
~3,000 agents รท ~3.7 million residents โ‰ˆ 0.8 agents per 1,000 residents

Chicago metro (Midway Blitz):
~300 agents รท ~9.4 million residents โ‰ˆ 0.03 agents per 1,000 residents

0.8 รท 0.03 โ‰ˆ 25ร— more intense per capita

We, ourselves, may not get to see the other side of whatโ€™s to come. But I do know it ends with us winning.
