The GOP Shutdown premise is basically this: “If you don’t let us kill you by gutting your healthcare, we will starve you to death by blocking your SNAP. Sure you’ll die either way, but hey, at least we’re letting you decide how.”

Every person who thinks it's just pedantry to argue about what constitutes "fascism" should think very hard about how much damage has been done to American life by the indiscriminate and incorrect usage of words like "terrorism," "war," "treason" and "communist", among many others.

I think what is happening here is that Jackson is doing the 48hr pausing so the First Circuit (hopefully) declines to place a stay pending appeal (which would be a longer stay) and then the Court will be in the tougher position of delaying SNAP for a longer stay period.
