Every person involved in this decision needs to be hit over the head with a copy of Kashmir Hill's "Your Face Belongs to Us" until they come to their senses.

If only all of us insisting there is no ethical use for facial recognition technology had been listened to even a tiny bit maybe we wouldn't be here. It isn't too late! Ban 100% of facial recognition technology. And abolish ICE while you're at it.

THIS is exactly what Democrats are standing up against.

Starbucks' unionized workers are holding a massive strike vote.
If approved, more than 12,000 baristas in 45 states and the District of Columbia could strike.
@sbworkersunited.org says the strike would be open-ended, potentially continuing through the holidays.
The region served by Planned Parenthood’s Southeastern chapter—Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi—is one of America’s poorest and most conservative.
Now, it's being run by new executives, one of whom calls herself “pro-life” and another who asked about partnering with anti-abortion groups.

I always mention this because I know it can be hard to choose who to help when so many different communities are in danger and suffering.
This is one easy choice that will serve them all at once.
Backed by the Heritage Foundation and Big Tech, KOSA will force everyone to upload their ID to access the internet. In an age when Palantir has direct ties to ICE, where technofascists are in power and want to eliminate and censor everything, we CANNOT allow KOSA to pass.
It NEEDS mass pushback.
We wanted to know something simple: Where a popular generic drug was made and whether that factory had quality problems.
Instead, we found ourselves navigating a labyrinth of company names and databases that few consumers would even know exist.
ICE launched tear gas in a Chicago neighborhood before a Halloween parade. They are showing us they don’t care who’s harmed.

WATER ONLY FOR TEAR GAS!
Milk acts like sandpaper on your eyes.
Take an empty milk gallon and fill with water to bring to anti ICE or any other protest!
‼️
NO LECHE, SOLO AGUA!
Pick up eye goggles from the hardware store so you’re ready.
I haven't been to Twin Cities Con before... It's very TV/ movie focused, but the comics contingent is growing, it looks like. I'll ask a few friends what foot traffic was like last year.
I'll DM you re: hanging out!
The shop closes down on the 29th, so get some original art while you can!

An 8-mineral elimination bracket for Ore Cup 2025. From top to bottom in pairs alternating from left to right, the competitors are Galena vs Copper; Molybdenite vs Tetrahedrite; Ilmenite vs Jadarite; and Carrollite vs Bornite. So, my 2¢: whatever your preferred policy outcomes are, you need to vote to give the City a small-to-medium sized stick to back it up with. If you or someone you know is on the fence, Yes on Q1 just lets the City say "yes you actually have to do what I say."
24.10.2025 13:30 — 👍 4 🔁 2 💬 0 📌 0On a few occasions, I've felt that the lack of admin citation power was used by the City to justify inaction. And it 100% has been used as an excuse why they refuse to more than sporadically enforce the Rent Stabilization Ordinance.
24.10.2025 13:28 — 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0Now that it's no longer my job to do so, I generally try to keep my nose out of St. Paul politics. But voting Yes on Q1 is extremely important for that city. Administrative citations are basically the only tool short of criminal charges or expensive litigation a city can use against bad actors.
24.10.2025 13:21 — 👍 20 🔁 6 💬 2 📌 0These candidates are inspiring people across the city - offering a vision of what can happen if we elect a mayor who will work with City Council and be accountable to residents.
There’s less than two weeks left to make sure your friends and neighbors rank all three!
Title text: "Rank all 3!" Subtitle: "May polling showed Fateh, Davis and Hampton with a 1 point lead over Frey. September saw that lead extend to 10 points! The momentum is growing and we have a clear path to victor on November 4th." Above a bar graph showing Frey's challengers' growing lead over Frey from the two polls.
We’re on our way to electing a new mayor!
How do we do it?
Ranked choice voting!
Minneapolis has 3 fantastic candidates for mayor in @omarfatehmn.com, @dewayneforminneapolis.com & @jazzformayor.bsky.social.
If their upward trend continues, we can ensure a new mayor by ranking all 3.
Oatmeal. I add flaxmeal to the dried oats, before cooking with a fruit (e.g. ½ apple, or whole apricot), & then add sunflower seeds / sesame seeds / walnuts / pecans & Greek yogurt after cooking. If I add sweetener, it's honey or maple syrup, and I often add cinnamon as well.
24.10.2025 14:11 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0critics of the mayor are not "haters." this strib framing minimizes issues and concerns people have about him, and using slang terms like "haters" is frey-friendly language because this is what his supporters say in response to people bringing up valid issues
"you're just a hater"
