Tonight I watched Prime Minister Mark Carney take the actual Heated Rivalry Canada fleece from Hudson Williams, slip it on and say: β€œThis is true soft power.”

Very selfishly, I am delighted about TikTok’s decline.

That app accelerated AAVE theft on a level I had never seen or experienced IN MY LIFE.

When the history of the 21st century is written, there will be a bright line of division of politicians pre-2025 and politicians post-2025, and right now, every major moderate Democrat is on the wrong side of that line.

Apparently a pair of gits decided today was the day to release a racist screed demanding the BBC stop hurting their feelings by casting people who aren’t white or actually examining colonialist history.
Happy #Bridgerton Season 4 Premiere Day, I guess.

If someone had made a film about how an Eastern European sex worker came to America illegally and ends up as First Lady I reckon it’d be a box office hit. But I guess they weren’t ready to go there.

Note the problem here. Trump does apparently want to minimize clashes between government security services and protesters. But he doesn’t appear to want those heavily armed government militias to stop doing the things that are causing those clashes in the first place.

What’s really going on here is this: Trump is looking to defuse anger among congressional Democrats for purposes that don’t portend a meaningful shift. An administration official gave away the game to Punchbowl News, admitting that these β€œde-escalatory measures” are about placating Senate Democrats so they don’t seize this moment to demand restrictions on ICE as part of any government funding package.

The problem for the White House, Punchbowl reports, is that if Democrats successfully renegotiate new measures, the House might have to pass a new packageβ€”the House already passed funding that included money for DHSβ€”and Republicans doubt that’s possible. So the show of de-escalation is about making it easier for Senate Democrats to support appropriations bills that don’t require another vote in the House.

There really seems to be a lot of kayfabe happening right now. Trump is pretending to de-escalate to placate Dems so they don't demand reform, and Dems are making up fake reforms so they can pretend like they made changes while they vote to fund DHS.

Be ready to turn on them if they even think of stepping out of line. You know how corporations aren't our friend? Well, voters aren't THEIR friends.
