All of this. Our son being a theatre kid when neither his dad or I have any experience with theatre has been the biggest joy of our lives.

β€œMaine may be one of the first states to undergo an investigation by his Administration, but we won’t be the last. Today, the President of the United States has targeted one particular group on one particular issue which Maine law has addressed. But you must ask yourself: who and what will he target next, and what will he do? Will it be you? Will it be because of your race or your religion? Will it be because you look different or think differently? Where does it end? In America, the President is neither a King nor a dictator, as much as this one tries to act like it – and it is the rule of law that prevents him from being so."

Gov. Mills showed precisely the sort of integrity in the face of political pressure that the majority of the party currently lacks. More importantly, she did so extemporaneously and without hesitation from a purple state where this isn't a universally popular position.

It occurred to me that firing thousands of highly skilled, highly knowledgeable people, some of whom had access to highly secret information, and now have grievances and an urgent need for money, might be considered a security risk. Like, a big one.

sreenshot from the new york times reporting that Stanford University’s provost is talking about how the loss of funding from national institutes of health funding will cost the university $160 million. that’s not the way to get this changed β€” the people think β€œstanford is rich; no big deal.” leaders need to talk about what this will cost the public

for pity’s sake, I am BEGGING university leaders to stop framing this issue in terms of what this will cost the university. people dont care!

EXPLAIN WHAT THIS WILL COST THE PUBLIC: closed hospitals and clinics, skipped treatments, loss of access to experimental drugs, unemployment, recession

I know you hate this advice. I know you hear it all the time, but for gods sake you need to be calling your congressperson. Now. Today.

If you have a GOP representative, you need to call and ask if they approve of stripping congress of its constitutional authority. If they like being powerless.

YOU: Hi, my name is [NAME]. I’m calling from [ZIP CODE].

YOU: I am calling on [HOUSE MEMBER/SENATOR] to speak out against President Trump’s actions on Monday in freezing all federal aid. This is blatantly illegal; the Executive Branch can’t unilaterally decide to ignore laws that were passed by Congress, especially when it comes to financial aid.

YOU: MOC must take action, and clarify how they will stop the freeze and ensure that the millions who are directly impacted by financial aid will not be harmed.

YOU: [OPTIONAL COMMENT]

This is fantastic, Adam! The β€œeducate” rather than β€œban” is an approach I’ve taken with my own kid that, so far, seems to be working well. If it is ok with you, could I highlight this article on the Faculty Council socials?
