Where was this 5 or 10 years ago?

Nice to see someone throwing a punch at Fox News's nonsense

*pile on, not like. Autocorrect has gotten worse and more aggressive

The Russians are all about humiliating him.

I hope the Dems have some rapid response stuff ready to portray this as basically elder abuse of a mentally incapacitated old man.

The Dems should like on the humiliation, is what I'm saying

They're effective at mocking Trump. The man hates being laughed at. Newsome isn't going anywhere, but he was laughing at Trump.

It's nice to see a Democrat punch back after the last 8 months

But think of all the federal employees they've made miserable and the personal data they handed over to Musk and Thiel.

Trump gives them an outlet for their own resentment and frustration in life. I'm not sure what the Democrats can do about that.

The Trumpified GOP offers something beyond economic policy for these voters. Trump gives them ability to hurt or frustrated other people these voters garbor a grudge against. They probably don't know Trump is shifting the burden of taxation onto them from higher earners. I doubt they care.

How deep is the OH Dem bench? The Democrats Gerontocracy is a problem, but it's hardly the biggest one.

Oh Good Lord. The deficit scolds are "well ackshually-ing" this self harming tariffs policy. I never thought they were serious people, this is not going to give me cause to reassess that opinion

"staunch critic of the agency and the top economist at the conservative Heritage Foundation" is some pretty heavy sane washing way to say "completely unqualified hack". do better @washingtonpost.com

Trolls often make outrageous claims based on a fake premise. People then try to refute the claim while validating the premise. @washingtonpost.com you don't need to do this. Do some damn journalism and maybe point this out.

is that a general statement or did he do something?

This is a sort of silly article. No one likes Vance (Vance doesn't even like Vance) and Rubio has incinerated his career just to have a seat at the kids table. Once Trump goes, the GOP will tear itself apart -the only thing holding them together is adoration of Trump (blech) and resenting others.

Kids will get older and want to doomscroll during the work day while talking with their wife about what to make for dinner. I wouldn't be surprised if younger kids age in to text based social media. And if it fails, well, I hope it takes Twitter down first.

Minus the redeeming parts

I read this as an implicit criticism of Congressional Democratic Leadership in addition to jockeying for 2028. I think on some level these govs (even Hochul!) are understanding the mood of the base and even some learners are angry and want someone to throw a damn punch.

05.08.2025 13:02 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I can't tell if that's a joke

05.08.2025 11:38 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

well, Trump did manage to get everyone to stop bringing up Epstein. I can't wait to see what happens the next time he comes back up.

"being in every lane so I can always claim to right/have seen it coming" is kind of his m.o. these days. The guy needs some friends who can tell him to stop talking.

04.08.2025 15:51 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Hassett can practically taste the nomination.

04.08.2025 12:23 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

We're not talking about Epstein, either.

04.08.2025 10:40 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Well, it is driving Epstein out of the news

for what it's worth, I agree with you on the last three points. I just can't take 'sure Trump and the GOP tried a coup, but the Democrats should have run on framing more palatable to voters in Springfield (Ohio or Missouri), so the Democrats have failed as well', seriously.

03.08.2025 18:16 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Making a comparison between that and January 6th, firing the BLS Commissioner, the clear corruption with everything, and whatever's happened since I last checked the news, isn't helping defuse my 'baby boomer bothsidesing' comment.

03.08.2025 18:16 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm 41, Tom. "The failures of the 1970s; the emergence of Clinton's "ignore my character, I'll give you what you want" deal" sounds an awful lot like "Chappaquiddick, Chappaquiddick, Chappaquiddick" and some Limbaugh-vintage spittle flecked Clinton Rage.

03.08.2025 18:16 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

The GOP has spent the last 15 years+ denouncing reality when it conflicts with their world view. the worst thing the Democrats have done in there is some annoying land acknowledgements (that no one reads) and some goofy stuff with language policing (that is annoying). Those are not the same things.

03.08.2025 16:49 β€” πŸ‘ 15    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

"a party whose excesses and feckless decisions *also* had a lot to do with the rise of authoritarian populism. (Populism was once a thing among the Democrats.)" can you expand on that? Because that sounds an awful lot like "baby boomer bothsidesing".

03.08.2025 16:49 β€” πŸ‘ 27    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 2

What a POS. The people who criticized him for "Dow 36,000" were too kind.

I thought Alan Greenspan had written a book about German interwar monetary policy. I'd have read that book. I was wrong.

Schumer needs to step down as Democratic Leader, but by his standards this was actually good.
