Great example of bottomless desire for authoritarian domination but limited capacity.
Trump can't steal the midterms.
I say that not as a call for complacency, but to right-size worries. Authoritarianism partially exists in our heads. Excessive fear plays into their hands.
Be vigilant but don't panic. Don't grant the regime more power than it actually has.

The common name or species is written below the animals. Some bees are moving leaves, scraping plant hair, or sticking out their tongues. Some male bees have hairy faces and unusually shaped legs. There are also baby bees that have just hatched from their petal nests. Cute and colorful atmosphere. There are over 20,000 species of bees, so I only depicted a very small fraction of them!

Late result for anyone still awake: NaβCole Thompson, the Democratic candidate in the mayoral race today in Leander, Texas, has won the election.
She got 57% and wonβt need a runoff, with two Republicans adding up to 43%.
RESULT: Democrat Chasity Martinez wins a special election for a legislative seat in Louisiana, 62% to 38%.
This was a district that Trump carried by 13% last year, so a big overperformance by Dems, but the seat was already Dem-held.
I think one of the most persistent social lies we are all taught is that evil, unshackled by the need to be moral, is better at things. This in spite of the fact that every time evil is tried on a societal level, it fails. It makes everything worse, not just what it wants to make worse.

But in America, state and local governments run elections. So Trump can kick rocks.
Still, ALL of Congress must be VIGILANT.

Note from the editors: ProPublica is publishing the names of the two federal immigration agents involved in the fatal shooting of Minnesota protester Alex Pretti. We believe there are few investigations that deserve more sunlight and public scrutiny than this one, in which two masked agents fired 10 shots at Pretti as he lay on the ground after being pepper-sprayed. The Department of Justice said it is investigating the incident, but the names of the two agents have been withheld from Congress and from state and local law enforcement. The policy of shielding officersβ identities, particularly after a public shooting, is a stark departure from standard law enforcement protocols, according to lawmakers, state attorneys general and former federal officials. Such secrecy, in our view, deprives the public of the most fundamental tool for accountability.

What is happening in Minneapolis stands in contrast to the idea of Trumpismβs irresistible power.
It should be a reminder: Being lawless, immoral, and violent does not make the Trumpists omnipotent. Obscuring that distinction is an act of defeatism that only serves the regime.
Good news! Get involved in local political efforts, if you can.
