Quit the job I hated and which had me suicidal (office work) and started a new job working on the railway. Now, instead of worrying I am wasting my life, I worry that I’m going lose this new life that I love. Got to worry and stress about something. The anxiety won’t just evaporate I’m afraid.

Everyone’s doing favourite #book of the year so wanted to share mine, just under the wire! Train Dreams is a 20 year old novella that isn’t actually about trains. But is a brilliant and touching story about loss and solitude by the late master Denis Johnson. Essential reading.

I agree listening isn’t reading. But I don’t think consuming written words with your eyes is inherently more intellectually stimulating. If you are able to comprehend and engage with the ideas the author sets out then the medium via which you do it shouldn’t really matter.

Probably the most accurate take I’ve seen on this. Like, if you want to get pedantic about it, using Twitter technically counts as reading. It’s not some lofty mark of distinction that is difficult to attain. The level of personal fulfilment you get from whichever activity should be the key metric.
