I.R.S. Says Churches Can Endorse Candidates From the Pulpit
In a court filing, the tax agency said a decades-old ban on campaigning by tax-exempt groups should not apply to houses of worship speaking to their own members.

The double standard here is stunning. Universities are losing grants, student aid, and endowments for being "too woke." But churches (which also receive federal funds, eg, for school vouchers, food banks, and marriage promotion programs) are now allowed to openly endorse political candidates.

You notice a beautiful woman wearing a t-shirt that says "My eyes are up here." But you look up and see she's wearing sunglasses that say "No, higher than that." Her hat says "Keep going."

Eventually, you notice her long eyestalks and huge shell, but by then, it's too late. It's snail time.

With this vote, Congress makes ICE the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency in history, with more money per year at its disposal over the next four years than the budgets of the FBI, DEA, ATF, US Marshals, and Bureau of Prisons combined.

You'll see the same thing with disaster relief as the state share for costs increases. They just don't have the finding to unlock those FEMA $.

Traditionally states were required to match 5%.

Now they'll need to match up to 25%, the maximum rate allowed by law and a 5x increase over the usual.

Ok, so Republicans just introduced a 900 page bill none of them have read. But my team is going through it line by line and on this 🧡you can see the hidden provisions we found. Will update all day.

1/ NEW Medicaid cuts, so now 17 million - instead of 16M - lose health care.

ICE *already* can't meet their detainment numbers without rounding up children, veterans, people born in the U.S., people with no criminal records, people at immigration hearings, plus academics and visitors with valid visas.

So who do they plan to detain with >10x the budget?

The answer is: you.

The One Big β€˜Beautiful’ Bill’s SNAP Cuts Would Strain Food Banks Amid Rising Food Insecurity Food banks do not have the capacity to alleviate the spike in hunger that would be created by cuts to SNAP.

β€œA 10 percent cut to SNAP is financially the equivalent of wiping out every food bank in the U.S.” ~Houston Food Bank

SNAP cuts will leave those already facing food insecurity with nowhere to turn.

Here are a few specific examples of new tasks people would be asked to complete if the bill became law:
β€’ Instead of allowing states to use existing information to verify citizenship and income for people trying to qualify for Obamacare subsidies, those individuals would be required to submit documents and would have less time to apply.
β€’ Individuals using Medicaid would need to prove they are eligible for the program twice a year instead of annually.
β€’ "Able-bodied" Americans aged 60-64 on food assistance would be required for the first time to meet work requirements.

The tax cut for the wealthy is based on a time tax for the poor. All will have to pay, and some will no longer be able to receive benefits to which they are legally entitled.
This is not some unintended effect. This is very clearly how the GOP makes their numbers.
