Lots of people enjoying Sunset Dunes on a beautiful day.

Four years ago, SSR was started to make the great highway permanently car-free. Now, sunset dunes is one of SF's most popular parks. Like the embarcadero and central freeway removals, there may be more fights ahead, but we're not going back.

True, didn’t mean that as like a purity test, more as an indicator that I’m not sure if he can build the kind of solidity/coalitions required to win against machine politician like Weiner.

It is so cool that, at the same moment that reactionary elites are making a massive frontal assault on the basic concept of education, there's a new fake university funded by those same elites that exists to teach briefcase-to-school kids how to say "that is so INTERESTING" to their future bosses.

It’s perfectly possible that large language models have wonderful use cases, but specific examples of them seem unusually elusive, whereas unbuttressed assertions that the use cases are clear or obvious from people who refuse to answer any follow up questions are rather thick on the ground.

fun historical fact: among the core political forces in the development of mass incarceration was the "Victims' Rights Movement". Its first major legislative national legislative victory was under President Reagan. The prison population doubled under his administration.

On 3/29, visits surged to 5,700, & on 4/5 & 4/6, they reached approximately 5,800 & 6,100β€”far surpassing historical weekend traffic. The boom in visits highlights Sunset Dunes’ growing role as a must-visit coastal destination.

Sunset Dunes doesn’t officially open until Saturday, but that hasn’t stopped thousands of San Franciscans from flocking to it. Since 3/24, the oceanside park has drawn an average of 3,400 visits per day, despite being under construction. Learn more here: tinyurl.com/2p9bjs68

people often talk about the Marina or Tenderloin as aural chaos centers of San Francisco but Stonestown got its own, equally powerful demons too. I knew menswear guy was a madman when he challenged a rando to a fight at Stonestown Uniqlo

Plastic straws are banned in San Francisco, at least if you want to drink a soda or lemonade.
Those smoking fentanyl, however, have been able to get them for free, at taxpayers' expense.

The throughline connecting most of the issues facing us today is that American elite institutions in so many different fields (media, academia, legal, political, etc) want the respect, deference, and privilege of serving important societal roles and none of the responsibility that would with that.

I compiled this list on my recent Substack post because I was exactly afraid that all non-car-focused transportation infrastructure in the US would be under threat (or intense scrutiny at least) under this administration www.substack-bahn.net/i/156507983/...

one of my online tics from years of timeline based brain poisoning is that i just cannot read a post past somebody using a nickname for a politician/public figure, regardless of party. like my brain turns off at 'felon musk' or 't-rump' or 'gavin newscum' or whatever

One of the disturbing reactions to the Mahmoud Khalil arrest is people making things up that he did to justify it that even the Trump admin doesn't claim he did. People just see him as the *type* of person who did the things they're mad about, so punishing him for it is acceptable. Lynching logic.
